Portland Offices

Sonia V. Bynum, MD

Dr. Sonia Bynum grew up in South America with a small but multicultural family that loves to travel. Having a wide range of interests, she studied biochemistry and business administration before moving to the United States and becoming a Nephrologist in the Portland area.


Sushil Deshmukh, DO

Sushil Deshmukh, DO is a native of Connecticut and completed most of his education on the East Coast. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed his Bachelors in the Biological Basis of Behavior.


Sallie E. Israelit, MD

A native to Portland, Dr. Sallie Israelit has been practicing Nephrology in the area for the past 10 years. Dr. Israelit graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston and then attended Medical School at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She returned to Boston to complete her Internship and Residency training at Harvard University, training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and her Nephrology Fellowship at Boston University.


Supriya Khan, MD

Dr. Supriya Khan joined the OKHC team in Portland as a hypertension and kidney doctor June of 2016. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. She graduated from the University of Memphis in 1995 and received her medical degree from the American College of the Caribbean in 2000.


Hongshi Xu, MD

Dr. Hongshi Xu is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. After graduation from medical school, Dr. Xu held an academic Nephrology position in Shanghai, China. He received his PhD in the field of Kidney Transplantation and has done extended Nephrology research at OHSU.


Jessica Pettitt, PA-C

Jessica Pettitt is a nationally board certified Physician Assistant. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

McMinnville Offices

Ryan S. Griffiths, MD

Dr. Ryan Griffiths is a native Oregonian who is happy to have the opportunity to continue to live and work here. He grew up playing sports and raising sheep and cattle in Central Oregon. His father was a large animal vet, which helped foster this hobby. After high school, he spent one year of college at Montana State in Bozeman before transferring to Oregon State University.


Akshita Narra, MD

Dr. Narra was born and raised in India where she received her medical training before moving to the United States. She completed her clinical research at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston, MA where she studied various clinical outcomes in hemodialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients. Her love for medicine, specific physiology, translated into a career in nephrology.


Shweta Patel, MD

A west-coast native, Dr. Shweta Patel was born and raised in northern California, where she completed her college degree in Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. She subsequently moved to Ohio for Medical School and graduated from The University of Toledo. She stayed in the mid-west a bit longer and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.


Creagh Schoen, FNP, WHCNP

Creagh Schoen is a life-long Oregonian. She grew up in Eastern Oregon where she enjoyed living in a small town surrounded by the beauty of wheat fields and the Blue Mountains. She attended Oregon State University and Oregon Health Sciences University to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Tigard Offices

Amy Hackett, MD

Dr. Amy Hackett is a native Oregonian, born and raised in the Portland area. She attended Oregon State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. Between undergrad and Medical School she worked for a year at OHSU doing basic research on cholesterol transport. Dr. Hackett graduated from OHSU’s School of Medicine in 2000, following which, she stayed at OHSU and completed her training in Internal Medicine in 2003.


Firas G. Khoury, MD

Dr. Firas G. Khoury, his wife and four children, live in West Linn. He and his family relocated from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania several years ago and has been with the Oregon Kidney and Hypertension Clinic since its inception.


Fareha Nawaz, MD, FNKF, FASN

Dr. Nawaz completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tenn.


Geoffrey Xiao, PA-C

Geoffrey Xiao is a nationally board certified Physician Assistant. He earned Bachelors of Science degrees from the University of California Riverside in Biochemistry and then the University of Utah in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
